Construction hat, belt, glove

DeKalb students who have graduated from high school or earned a GED equivalent have a new opportunity to participate in an eight-week paid training experience in a trade of their choice as part of Meta’s Hardhat in Hand Program.  Meta representative recently shared information with high school counselors and career and technical instructors about this new partnership with communities.

According to Meta, active data center construction projects across the United States, including in DeKalb, require thousands of multi-year construction jobs. The Hardhat in Hand workforce development program is helping provide community members with a path to reliable, well-paid job opportunities while expanding the talent pipeline and diversity in the construction industry.

Individuals must be 18 years of age to apply. The program will provide graduates with construction fundamentals, an opportunity for a job to help construct the DeKalb Dada Center upon successful completion, and exposure to job opportunities in carpentry, concrete finishing, craft labor, drywall installation, electrician, pipefitting, and more.

Applications are due by Sunday, January 8, 2023, with the program beginning on February 20, 2023. To apply, email Hardhatinhand_DeKalb @mortenson.com.
