Welcome to the DeKalb CUSD 428 transportation services information page. Here, you can find essential information regarding school buses, alternative transportation, and eligibility services for Dekalb CUSD 428 students.
DeKalb CUSD 428 partners with First Student to provide a safe and efficient district-wide transportation services.
Student Eligibility
Students eligible for transportation include
- Students residing more than 1.5 miles from their school.
- Students having special needs with legal Individualized Education Plan (IEP) requirements.
- Students who live in an area deemed hazardous by the Department of Transportation (IDOT)
Students NOT eligible for transportation:
- Students residing in the area up to 1 ½ miles from the school and who do not meet the exception criteria.
Your student’s school is your primary source of information about eligibility for these services. First Student should not be contacted regarding eligibility, routes, stops, or delays.
Parent/Guardian pay transportation is not available.
Drop Off Times
Elementary school drop off is scheduled for 8:20 a.m.
Middle and High School drop off is scheduled for 7:20 a.m.
Audio/Video Use on Busses
Audio/Video equipment is in use for all school-related activities. Recordings are held confidential and can only be used by school officials and law enforcement for investigations, disciplinary actions or prosecutions related to incidents occurring in or around school buses.
