The DeKalb CUSD 428 invites district residents to attend one or more of the upcoming Community Conversations events, designed to provide a designated time for community members and students to have more opportunities to meet others in the district, address topics of interest, and ask questions. District representatives and school leaders host the Community Conversations, which take place from 5 – 7 p.m. Locations vary throughout the year.

The Tuesday, November 29 conversation will focus on gathering feedback and answering questions about the possibility of adding a neighborhood elementary school on the north side of DeKalb at 1240 Normal Road. Currently, this building serves as the NIU School of Nursing, and based on preliminary discussions with NIU, the location could be surplus to their needs in the future and may be an option for the District to acquire.
