
D428 will offer help with new and returning student registration for the 2025-2026 school year during the next Community Conversation event on Thursday, May 8, from 5 - 7pm at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 900 Normal Rd. DeKalb. Located in the neighborhood of the new Dr. Leroy A. Mitchell Elementary School that will open in August, this event also will provide an opportunity to meet with the schools new staff.
Community Conversations offer an opportunity to enjoy a light supper, visit with District staff and families, and participate in discussions about D428 activities. The agenda for the evening includes:
- 5 p.m. - a light meal will be served
- 5:45 p.m. - introductions of Mitchell staff and discussion
- 6:30 - 7 p.m. - Registration support with District staff available for assistance
Access to the skyward family access account information or access to your email address is required. Please bring your proof of residency documents if you have moved, you are enrolling students in K-5th grade, or all new students to enroll.
For details on acceptable proof of residency documents accepted please visit the District's Registration page. Elementary and middle school students must complete returning student registration by Friday, May 9 to secure placement in your home school. Students are placed by registration date. DeKalb High School students must complete registration to be considered for summer school classes and to receive their schedule at the beginning of the school year.
Any student not registered by August 1, 2025 may experience delays in transportation, receiving schedule information or starting on the first day of school.
Families are encouraged to complete registration as soon as possible.There will be another registration assistance event held on Tuesday, June 24 from 10 am - 6 p.m. at the Education Center, 901 S. Fourth Street, DeKalb.
