I get to set the tone for their day. After school, no matter how their school day went I can end it with a ‘Hey have a great night! See you tomorrow!’ – Mary K., First Student Lead Recruiter and Driver

As part of National School Bus Safety Week, we thank our drivers and attendants who travel over 667,631 miles per year to safely transport more than 4,500 children to school and back every day. When you see a bus – keep these numbers in mind and follow these important safety rules from the Illinois State Police.

Here’s more from Mary, “I enjoy being a bus driver because I have been able to build a bond with my students. Whether it’s a high-schooler telling me about how they passed their driving test or an elementary student telling me about going apple picking over the weekend, I feel so grateful that they feel comfortable enough to share these important moments with me. I can continue a positive day or turn a rough day around by letting the students know that I look forward to seeing them again tomorrow.”
