The final proposed new attendance area boundaries for the 2025-2026 school year were approved by the Board of Education at its February 4 meeting. The general attendance map for K-5 grade students was developed through collaborative input from various community groups and interested parties.
In developing these new boundaries, the District worked to prioritize the overall welfare and academic success of students, while maintaining a commitment to neighborhood schools, reduced class sizes, and to create attendance areas that distribute the student population as equitably as possible across all District elementary schools.
Families whose children will be transitioning to a new elementary school will be notified by a mailed letter and electronic communications.
Attendance boundary adjustments are necessary to accommodate the opening of Dr. Leroy A. Mitchell Elementary School, ensuring the District's priority to provide high-quality education while managing evolving student population and needs effectively.
To help families navigate these changes, an interactive boundary map will be available on the district website Registration page by the end of February 2025, along with additional registration information.
Important Information for the 2025-2026 School Year:
All students entering Kindergarten through 5th grade will be required to provide proof of residency as part of the registration process. Even if proof of residency has been provided in the past, submitting updated documentation allows for informed decisions to be made using the latest available information.
Registration for new and returning students will open on April 1, 2025. Registering early is strongly encouraged to ensure a child's placement at their designated home school.
Please ensure that your contact information, including a current address and email address, is up to date in Skyward Family Access. This is particularly important so specific communications to families whose children will be transitioning to a new elementary school receive all necessary information to assist in their transition.
Special Notifications:
- Families of students receiving specialized special education services in the elementary SOAL, Developmental Communications and Academic Intensive programs will receive additional communication from the Student Services Department in March.
- Families of students in the Two-Way Dual Language program will receive separate information from our multilingual learner personnel prior to the end of the school year.
