DHS Forensics Team 2023
The DeKalb High School Forensics team is sending 18 students to the IHSA State Finals after capturing third place as a team at Saturday’s Sectional Speech Tournament held at DHS. In an incredibly close and competitive field, the team finished just two points out of first place. Advancing to state in Individual Events are:

 

Senior Unique Omodayo – 1st place, Poetry Reading
Junior Trent Taylor – 2nd place, Dramatic Interpretation
Junior Jenna Zimmerman – 2nd place, Informative Speaking
Sophomores Will Fontana & Natalie Morken – 2nd place, Humorous Duet Acting
Senior Maddie Voorhis – 3rd place, Prose Reading

 

Also earning team points as Sectional Finalists were:
Senior Maddie Voorhis – 4th place, Original Oratory
Junior Kayla Bruhn – 4th place, Special Occasion Speaking
Sophomores Hope Johnson & Natalie Morken – 5th place, Dramatic Duet Acting
Junior Erika Cole – 7th place, Extemporaneous Speaking

 

Also advancing to State via a 3rd place finish at Sectionals is the Performance In The Round team, under the direction of Daniel’e Apperson and Jimmy Zucker. Cast members are:
Seniors Shakeira Galloway and Lea Guelde
Juniors Tristan Bogolin, Brooklyn Burks, Anna Davies, Kenna Nally, and Kaitie Quinlan
Sophomore Josh Bruhn
Freshmen Muhammad Al-Fatih, Zoe Camardo, Ciara Carifio, and Aubri Smith

 

DeKalb was host to 25 teams and more than 300 competitors.
