The DeKalb High School Horticulture Department is hosting its annual plant sale in May. The sale showcases the efforts of more than 125 talented horticulture students who have cultivated plants from seed to fruition. The sale offers a wide variety of plants, from vibrant flowers to hardy vegetables, all ready to enhance your home and garden.
The plant sale takes place in the DeKalb High School Greenhouse, located at 501 W. Dresser Rd, DeKalb. Plant sale dates and times are:
- Friday, May 2, 3 to 6 pm
- Saturday, May 3, 9 am to 12 pm
- Monday, May 5, 3 to 4:30 pm
The program provides students with practical hands-on horticultural training, while simultaneously gaining experience in business and customer service. Proceeds from the sale go directly toward funding student projects, and school and community initiatives that students are passionate about. Projects supported by the annual plant sale include the student-designed and installed interior plantings around DeKalb High to brighten up the building's common spaces,as well as and the student-designed and planted flower beds and planters in downtown DeKalb, which benefit the community and attract pollinator insects.
