On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to thank everyone who participated in the community survey and listening session meetings. The information gathered through the survey and the discussions held during the listening sessions has provided the board with valuable feedback and insights that help inform our work more deeply as we continue through the process of selecting the District’s next leader. We invite everyone to review the survey results and the resulting Leadership Profile, and to stay up-to-date on the search process on our Superintendent Search webpage.
The multiple voices and viewpoints shared with us during the past month are crucially important as we move forward through the selection process. I’m pleased to share that the candidate pool is strong, and we look forward to carefully reviewing all of the applications to select finalists. From there, a diverse group of individuals from across the District and community will participate in interview teams to provide their input to the Board of Education for its final review and selection. We remain on track to complete the interview and candidate selection by the end of January.
I am grateful to our dedicated employees and community for their engagement and commitment to DeKalb Community Unit School District 428, so that together we can continue our notable progress in serving our mission to provide an equitable and inclusive education that supports and challenges our students to achieve their full potential.

The DeKalb CUSD 428 Board of Education has started the process of selecting its next inspirational leader, who will continue the District's student-centered focus on growth and achievement, while advancing its forward momentum in accordance with its Core Values, Mission, and Vision.In the interest of time and efficiency, the Board has decided to conduct the search independently and will not be seeking a third-party search firm.
A critical component of this process is seeking input from our families, staff, and the broader community to help build a leadership profile that outlines the professional and personal characteristics required for success in this role. We invite and encourage all stakeholders to participate in the D428 Superintendent Search Survey, which will be instrumental in helping us articulate the combination of credentials, experiences, leadership skills, and personal traits our next leader will demonstrate. The survey is open now through midnight (12:00 a.m.) on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. All responses are anonymous.
We look forward to engaging with our internal and external stakeholders throughout this process to select our next visionary leader. We encourage and welcome everyone to take advantage of opportunities to provide their feedback, which will directly inform the leadership profile for our next superintendent, helping to ensure the voices of our community are heard and represented in the final candidate selection process.

The application process is now open through November 16, 2025. Interested candidates should submit an application online that includes:
- Completed online application
- Formal letter expressing interest in the position
- Resume/CV
- Four current letters of recommendation (within one year)
- Proof of certifications and licensure
