While we all are anxiously looking forward to the many wonderful changes in district facilities
next year, I first want to congratulate and thank our students, teachers, and administrators on a
successful 2010 – 2011 school year. Special congratulations go to our excellent 2011 senior
graduates. Best wishes as you embark on the next stage in your life.
This past spring resulted in several changes to your Board of Education. I want to thank Holly
Wallace, Tia Robinson, Jim Mitchell and Fred Davis for their combined twenty eight years of
public service to District 428. New to your Board of Education are Tracy Williams, Nina
Fontana, Cohen Barnes and myself. We look forward to working with Dr. Briscoe, his
administration team, as well as our teachers, parents, and students throughout the district.
Your Board is committed to keeping all district residents both informed and engaged. Many of
our meetings this year will be at various schools throughout the district which we hope you will
be able to attend. We also will be seeking community input on all key issues the Board will be
addressing over the next four years.
As Dr. Briscoe mentions in his note, the 2011 – 2012 school year is both an exciting and historic
year for our district. As we complete final preparations for our upcoming school year, I want to
thank all of our district employees for their efforts in planning and transitioning during this time of
district change.
We hope that all community members will join us on August 26th for the dedication of your new
high school. Tours will also be available Saturday, August 27th. We hope to see you there! Go
