We provide the following services as needs arise:

• Work collaboratively with students, parents and teachers to identify and remove barriers that may impede student achievement.
• Participate in parent conferences and team meetings as resource.
• Act as referral source for community resources such as Ben Gordon, Youth Service Bureau, DeKalb County Health Department and Family Service Agency.
• Provide classroom group Guidance lessons. Topics include Harassment, Stress, Friendship, the Role of the Counselor, Coping Skills, Conflict Resolution, Goal Setting, Career Exploration, and Adjusting to Change or whatever an individual classroom might need.
• Provide short term individual help over rough spots.
• Facilitate small groups on topics like New Student Groups, Loss (Rainbows), Friendship, Anger Management, Listening to Youth Initiative, etc.
• Administrate Achievement Testing both Terra Nova and ISAT
• Provide New Student Orientation and new student registration throughout the year.
• Provide school staff conferences/consultation
• Provide information/materials to staff as needed
• Parent contact from staff as requested
• Facilitator of parent-teacher conferences
• Organize placement decisions in the scheduling process
• Provide transition planning for entering and exiting students
• Case Manage Special Education referral for initial referral for evaluation
• Consult with Special Education staff around transitions of students
• Participate as member of Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) and Targeted Individual Intervention Program (TIP) team member, Building Leadership Team, and Building Administrative Team.
• Link parents and students with local tutoring programs available in the community and at school.
