World Destination - 7th Grade Social Studies

Welcome!

You are about to embark on an excellent adventure, your destination: the WORLD! On this trip you will travel through time across your choice of five continents. (North America and Antarctica are off limits) Your job is to visit significant historical events that took place on your continent. During your journey you will be gathering information about these events that you will use to complete three tasks of your choice. You will be choosing tasks from three distinct categories that will require you to use all the different parts of your brain.

You will have four weeks to explore your continent and produce one item from each category. At the end of each of your four-week journeys, you will complete a detailed map and timeline that outlines the route that you explored. Throughout the course of this nine-week class, you will take two four-week journeys. Each journey will take place on separate continent.
To help you keep track of the places you visit, each team member will fill out a weekly log sheet. Each group will choose between 10 and 15 significant dates to visit. No more than one event per decade can be visited. Dates will be visited in chronological order, regardless of geographic location. Groups will use websites provided, in addition to all other available resources.

The Requirements (must be completed in four week's time):

  • Weekly log (one per person)
  • Weekly post card (using an index card, create a post card to a friend about a place that you visited that week)
  • 3 activities, one of each color (one per team) Once an activity has been used, it may not be used again for the second continent.
  • Completed map of journey with mileage and timeline (timeline must include 10 - 15 different dates)
