Description: Learn how you can succeed in becoming a sought-after Sub! Substitute teachers are an incredibly important part of every school system.  Districts are looking for flexible, competent people who can help provide a seamless education to a wide variety of students.  You will learn: qualifications for becoming a substitute teacher, process of registering to be a Sub in Illinois including certification, salary ranges offered to Subs in the surrounding districts, techniques for working at every grade level, how to relate to students effectively, how to market yourself as a Sub, and special insight into teachers’ “Dream Sub.” The instructor will address computer skills useful to accessing Sub jobs and in taking attendance.  Please bring 3-ring notebook and note-taking materials.  Note: To qualify for a substitute teaching position, students must have completed an undergraduate degree.  Must be at least age 18.

Instructor: Linda Hallstrom has a B.S. and an M.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She currently serves as the Career and Technical Education Division Chair at Elgin High School, District U-46.

If you have used Family Access previously, but have forgotten your information, you can request a reminder to be emailed to your email address of record. If you have not used Family Access previously and need username and/or password information, please contact your school office (after August 6th for elementary). Payments via the Web Store will be discontinued after December 31, 2008. Account balances will still be valid. After that date, online payments for fees and food service will only be accepted via Family Access.

WLBK Radio (AM 1360) hosts a thirty minute radio show on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00 - 9:30 a.m., and is re-broadcast at 8:30 a.m. on the first Saturday.
