02/22/2008 - Lincoln Elementary Hosts NIU Student Athletes

Lincoln Elementary students dressed in Huskie red and black sat mesmerized as they were visited by thirty-eight student athletes from Northern Illinois University on Friday. One of the NIU students, student teacher, Anne Senn, organized the assembly with help from fellow student athletes. They spoke with the Lincoln students about working hard in school, eating right, staying fit, and reaching for goals.

The students welcomed their guests from the university by singing the NIU fight song. Several of the student athletes indicated they enjoyed the opportunity to visit Lincoln Elementary as they waited for their fellow students to return to campus and for classes to resume. The visit was covered by several media outlets on Friday, including WLS-TV Channel 7 in Chicago, WREX-TV, Channel 13 in Rockford, and the Daily Herald newspaper.
