Board Meeting Highlights 6/3/08
- · The DHS Jazz Band was recognized for their recent performance at the Lincoln Center in New York City! (This group is under the direction of Mr. Reuben Cooper, Jr.)
- · Bill McGuire (Cortland Elementary) was recognized for being named as the 2008 State Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.
- · Dr. Paul Beilfuss, Adam Pouramahdi, Cohen Barnes and Brian Schrader were recognized for their recent awards at the 2008 Distinguished Service Awards sponsored by INSPRA (Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association).
- · Ms. Alvena Ivy gave the Board an overview of the Teacher Induction and Mentoring Project.
- · Ms. Linett Sturch (Aramark) shared with the Board the accomplishments & future vision of our district food service program.
- · DHS & Middle School Fees were approved.
- · Contract with ATS&R (district architects) was approved.
- · A possible new development (Shodeen) in DeKalb was discussed.
- · The Board discussed the possible renaming of the Jefferson Library to “Seaburg Square” in honor of retiring Jefferson Elementary principal, Merri-lynne Seaburg.
