Board Meeting Highlights from Meeting on 5/13/08
· · Clinton Rosette tech students presented the Board with a demonstration of their project planned for Tech 2008 at the State Capitol. (Unfortunately, Tech 2008 was canceled this year.)
· Pam Bybee and Margaret Jankauskis were recognized for being selected to serve on the Education Advisory Board of the Abraham Lincoln Library in Springfield. Pam Bybee was also recently awarded the DeKalb County Conservation Teacher of the Year.
· Becky McCabe was recognized for being chosen as an honoree at the 20th Annual “Dare To Be Great” Conference. She is one of only 3 women administrators statewide to receive this acknowledgment.
· The Board received an overview of the proposed partnership between Chesebro and NIU.
· Middle School staff gave the Board an overview of the Standards Aligned Classroom concept.
· The 2007-2008 Amended Budget was approved.
· Andrea Gorla shared a tentative 2008-2009 budget.
· Ms. Shahran Spears was approved as principal of Brooks Elementary.
· The Board approved the DHS jazz band to travel to New York City to participate in the 13th Annual Essentially Ellington Contest.
· Kari Cremascoli updated the Board on the dissolution of DCSEA.
· Becky McCabe explained we had a good turnout at kindergarten “roundup.”
· Dr. Hesbol shared preliminary staffing numbers for the upcoming year.
· Facility Planning Committee members were approved.
